Ways to Give

There are 5 ways to give to make a lasting impact! Scroll on to learn more.
1. Become a Monthly or One-Time Supporter
Monthly giving is one of the most impactful ways to support P48’s work. Monthly donations help deliver Essential Bags to youth entering foster care, sustain Life Skills programming for young adults aging out of care, and expand culturally responsive, community-based programs. This consistent support ensures help reaches youth year-round—not just in moments of crisis—and creates stability that young people can count on as they navigate foster care and the transition to adulthood.
If you already have a DAF, you can usually recommend a gift to P48 online or by contacting your DAF provider.
Log in to your donor-advised fund.
Look for “Recommend a Grant” or “Make a Grant.”
Search for P48 or Project 48.
Enter the amount you'd like to give.
Submit your request.
Your DAF provider will take care of the rest. Common Donor-Advised Funds:

2. Give From Your Donor-Advised Fund
A donor-advised fund, often called a DAF, is a charitable account that allows you to recommend donations to organizations you care about.
3. Give Stock or Other Investments
You may be able to give stock without selling it first.
If you own stocks, mutual funds, or other investments that have increased in value, you may be able to donate them directly to P48. Instead of selling the investment yourself and donating the cash, your financial institution can transfer the investment directly to P48. This type of gift may have tax advantages depending on your individual circumstances.
If you’re required to take a Required Minimum Distribution (RMD), a QCD can count toward your RMD. For 2026, the annual QCD limit is $111,000 per person. How to make a QCD to P48:
Contact your IRA provider.
Tell them you'd like to make a Qualified Charitable Distribution to P48.
Tell them how much you'd like to give.
Ask them to make the distribution directly to P48.
Keep your paperwork for your tax records.
One important thing to remember: For a QCD to receive its intended tax treatment, the distribution generally needs to go directly from your IRA to the qualified charity. You should not take the money as a personal distribution first. QCD rules can be tricky, so we recommend talking with your financial or tax advisor before making a gift.
Start with your IRA provider:
5. Include P48 in your Will or Trust
Leave a gift that will help young people for years to come.
You can include P48 in your will or living trust.
You can choose to leave:
A specific dollar amount
A percentage of your estate
A particular asset
The remainder of your estate after other gifts have been made
You can also name P48 as a beneficiary of certain retirement accounts, bank accounts, investment accounts, or life insurance policies.
Here's what to do:
Contact your financial advisor or investment company.
Tell them you'd like to donate stock or another investment to P48.
Ask them about transferring the investment directly to P48.
Contact P48 before making the transfer so we can give you the information your financial institution needs.
Find your investment company:

4. Give From Your IRA
Are you 70½ or older?
You may be able to make a Qualified Charitable Distribution (QCD) directly from your IRA to P48.
A QCD allows an eligible IRA owner who is at least 70½ to make a charitable gift directly from an IRA to a qualified charity. If you meet the requirements, the amount of the QCD is generally excluded from taxable income.
How do I do this?
Talk with your attorney or estate-planning professional.
Tell them you'd like to include P48 in your estate plan.
Decide what you'd like to leave to P48.
Your attorney can make sure your wishes are documented correctly.
You don't have to tell us how much you're planning to give. You simply need to let us know that you'd like P48 to be part of your legacy.
